Mythical Creature Pen and Water Color Art

Here is a piece of art that I created for my significant other back in the day depicting a creature mourning another dying creature. I saw this image in a book that my art teacher had. I can’t remember the name of the book, all I know is that it had a ton of pictures of fairies and mythical creatures and such.

What I did was first used a fine-point pen and did all of the outlines and details. After I was satisfied with that, I used water color for all of the highlight and shading effects. Super simple technique that has some pretty cool results.

Let me know what you think. I’m very interested to hear your opinions about this scene. I think it’s super clever. Monsters and mythical creatures always seem to be depicted as horrible, scary beings. I love this image because it shows a completely new angle. Quite refreshing piece of artwork if you ask me.

  1. I had a drawing’s copy that I bought in Amsterdam and I fell in love with. I would really appreciate it if you can give me the name of that book you used or the artist.

    nice drawing by the way!

    • I really wish I could remember either of those details. If I ever happen to go to my old high school, I will drop by my art class and find the book. Sorry I couldn’t have been more help.
